High-Quality Yakitori Done Right
At Yakitori BIRD LAND Ginza バードランド in Ginza (Chuo-ku), Tokyo, the yakitori was consistently excellent. We enjoyed a variety of yakitori.
The bonjiri (tail) had a rich, fatty bite, the chicken skin was crisp yet juicy, and the tsukune (chicken meat ball) was tender and well balanced. Even the leaner sasami (fillet) stayed moist and soft, which is not easy to achieve.
The meal started with a tofu dish dressed in olive oil, salt, and pepper, simple but memorable. This inspired my shio-koji-marinated tofu recipe.
The chicken liver pâté with baguette was rich without being heavy. To finish, the oyakodon (chicken and egg over rice) was comforting and very nicely done.
Lively Atmosphere In A Hidden Location
This restaurant is located underground and was difficult for us to find. Inside, however, the space was full and energetic, with guests enjoying their meals.
Counter seating faces the kitchen, offering a direct view of the chefs grilling. The wooden interior adds warmth, and the overall atmosphere feels natural and engaging.
Polite Service And Fair Pricing
Service was polite and efficient despite the crowd. The total came to 26,220 yen. It is not cheap, but the quality justifies the price, especially considering the variety ordered.
A Michelin Guide book was displayed in a corner of the restaurant, suggesting that BIRD LAND has been featured.
