I went to Lumpini ルンピニ in Ikebukuro, Tokyo. It’s a casual Thai spot with an English menu and no reservation needed. The food was pretty authentic and delicious, and we enjoyed it overall—but there were a few small disappointments.
Food
The food was good. I really liked the Kor-Moo-Yang (grilled pork neck), and the shrimp croquet.
Portions were small. My partner remembered more croquet and less vermicelli on his last visit. This time, there was a lot of vermicelli, which he didn’t like. Maybe the chef has changed since then.
The Tom Yum Kung soup was super spicy—definitely wakes you up.
The yellow soft shell crab curry wasn’t our favorite. My partner said he liked my homemade version better. There were only two to three pieces of crab, and that wasn’t satisfying to us.
Menu, Service, Atmosphere
They have an English menu. No reservation needed. Atmosphere is simple and comfortable. Service was polite and smooth, nothing special but fine.
Price and Value
The bill was 8,392 yen. Flavors were good, portions small. Value felt okay. Worth it if you want decent Thai food without any fuss.
