Perfect Crust, Toppings on Leave
👎
Time of visit: June 2025
We went to check out Nim’s Pizza in Minato-ku, Tokyo, a New-York-style pizzeria with a sleek, modern vibe that immediately makes a good impression.
The ordering system—via a tablet with a well-translated English menu—is user-friendly and convenient, especially for non-Japanese speakers.
While the service was polite, however, it felt a bit distant. The staff were not really engaging with us.
We started with the sweet potato fries and buttermilk fried chicken, which arrived before the pizza. The fried chicken was satisfying—crispy, well-seasoned, and exactly what you’d hope for. The sweet potato fries, on the other hand, were a letdown: soggy, underwhelming, and served in a surprisingly tiny portion considering the price.
For our main, we ordered a whole pizza, half Vodka Margherita and half Pepperoni. The tablet menu looked polished, but the pizza descriptions—especially for the vodka margherita—were frustratingly vague.
When the pizza arrived, the presentation was eye-catching and the crust was spectacularly crunchy—a true high point. Unfortunately, the rest didn’t live up to the looks.
The cheese was barely there, which was hugely disappointing. The sauce was bland, and even the salami lacked flavor. It felt like we were eating well-toasted bread with no flavor.
They had some seasonings on the table, but they didn’t have the one thing that we desperately needed: salt.
To top things off, the bathroom situation was strange: a large, see-through wall facing the dining area, which only became opaque after locking the door. Functionally fine, but still an uncomfortable and awkward design choice—especially if you’re eating nearby.
We paid 7,754 yen in total, which felt overpriced, given the disappointing pizza. While the ambiance and tech-forward service were nice, Nim’s Pizza ultimately fell flat where it matters most: the pizza. Pizza isn’t pizza without cheese. 🙁
Would we go back? No. Nim’s might impress at first glance, but it left us wishing it had as much substance as it has style.
For a New-York-style pizza, go to PIZZA SLICE instead.
Nim’s Pizza – Review
Summary
Nim’s Pizza offers great atmosphere and a perfectly crunchy crust, but completely misses the mark on flavor. The pizza was shockingly low on cheese—so much so that it barely qualified as pizza. With bland toppings and high prices, it was all style, no substance.
