Yakiniku that works, but does not impress
👋
Time of visit: April 2023
Quick, satisfying, but forgettable
We visited Yamadaya 焼肉山田屋 in Arakawa-ku, Tokyo, after visiting Ueno, and it felt like a very casual, no-frills yakiniku spot.
The food was good and arrived quickly, which made the meal feel smooth and easy. We enjoyed everything overall, but nothing really stood out or felt particularly memorable. It was satisfying in the moment, but not something that left a strong impression afterward.

A cramped and smoky setting that lowers the experience
The space was cramped, noisy, and smoky, with bright lighting that made it feel rough and not very comfortable. It is the kind of place that works if you do not mind a more hectic and unpolished environment, but it is not somewhere to relax.
The service was fine and efficient, but not particularly warm or attentive, just enough to keep things moving.
The prices were not especially high, but given the overall experience, they did not feel like particularly good value.
English menus are not available. Reservations are not required.
