A Fun and Flavorful Okinawan Spot That Left Us with a Great Memory
👍
Time of visit: June 2025
We stumbled upon a cozy Okinawan restaurant, Okinawa Chimu Dondon Shibuya (沖縄料理 ちむどんどん 渋谷店), in Shibuya, Tokyo, that completely won us over. The vibe was relaxed and casual, but the food was full of fun surprises and exotic flavors.
From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and inviting. The walls were covered in handwritten notes and graffiti, giving the place a fun, lived-in feel. The staff—especially the person who seemed to be the owner—was friendly, funny, and passionate about Okinawan food and the people they serve. You could feel the love in the room.

As for the food, we loved everything we tried. Our favorites were the croquette, gyoza, and fried potato. My partner was a big fan of the deep-fried Spam and even tried the snake liquor—definitely a memorable touch. Although my partner hates goya (bitter Okinawan melon), he was pleasantly surprised by how many dishes didn’t include it, which made the meal even more enjoyable.

They also made things easy for non-Japanese speakers—an English menu was available via a QR code, and you could place your orders right from your phone.

We paid 9240 yen for the two of us, and it felt fair for the experience and quality.
All in all, it was a fun, tasty, and heartwarming evening—one that left us with a great memory. If you’re looking for good vibes, great food, and a lot of heart, this place is a real gem.
