Not Quite What I Expected
Time of visit: June 2025
We stopped by Kanno Coffee Shinjuku East Exit (神乃珈琲 新宿東口店) in Shinjuku, Tokyo, after seeing a menu photo from 2022 on Google Maps that mentioned single-origin coffees—something my partner always enjoys trying. But when we got there, the only options for drip coffees were three blended coffees, labeled by roast: high, medium, and full city (which was explained to me as dark roast).
I asked about the single origin beans, but the staff didn’t seem to know anything about them. I ordered the medium roast and full city roast, but both tasted very weak and watery, with barely any flavor.

We also tried the pudding, which was okay but not memorable. The self-serve water had a strange smell, and the atmosphere was cramped, noisy, and hot, with bugs flying around and poor air conditioning. The staff seemed unsure and not particularly knowledgeable.

The bill came to ¥1,750 for the two of us, which felt overpriced given the quality of the drinks and overall experience.
In the end, it was a letdown. Maybe it used to offer more, but based on our visit, we wouldn’t go back.
Kanno Coffee Shinjuku East Exit / 神乃珈琲 新宿東口店 – Review

Summary
We visited Kanno Coffee after seeing an old menu photo that mentioned single-origin coffees, which my partner enjoys, but were disappointed to find only three generic blends available. The coffee tasted weak and watery, the atmosphere was hot, cramped, and noisy, and the staff didn’t seem knowledgeable. With mediocre pudding and a ¥1,750 bill for two, the experience felt overpriced and underwhelming—I wouldn’t go back.
