Refined Middle Eastern Cuisine in the Hands of a Talented Chef

👍

Time of visit: July 2025

Behind its elegant Middle Eastern display, AL AIN Arabic Restaurant in Roppongi, Tokyo, offers a dining experience that feels both refined and personal. We had made a reservation in advance, as required, and chose the AL AIN Set (non-vegetarian), along with a few extras like Kebbe Meat Balls Fried, Arabic coffee, and beer.

The food was exotic and bursting with flavor. Each dish was vibrant, beautifully presented, and made with fresh, good-quality ingredients. But what truly stood out was the chef’s skill—every element was cooked with care, balance, and precision.

It was clear that this wasn’t just about the exotic cuisine—it was about the execution. The chef’s technique elevated every dish, turning what could’ve been simply exotic food into something memorable.

Assorted dip plate - We loved this! The bread was served piping hot. The one with smoked eggplant (upper right) was especially amazing!

Tabbouleh Salad (left) and Small Mezze Plate (right) - Each one in the Mezze Plate was distinct and mind-blowing!

Kebbe Meat Balls Fried
Kebbe Meat Balls Fried – Exotic and delicately made, delicious!
Today's Special Arabian Moussaka
Today’s Special Arabian Moussaka – The BEST meat sauce I’ve ever tasted. Amazing flavor. I wish there was more meat and overall portion though.
Shish Kebabs Chicken & Beef with Lamb Biriyani Kabsa
Shish Kebabs Chicken & Beef with Lamb Biriyani Kabsa – Both the meat and rice were very flavorful. Loved the rice. The chicken was breast but I would prefer if it were thigh though.
Mint Tea and Arabian Dessert Rose Milk Pudding
Mint Tea and Arabian Dessert Rose Milk Pudding – The dessert was not too sweet and had a delicate flavor, which I appreciated. Couldn’t taste rose though.

The chef even came to our table a few times—serving coffee and later asking how we enjoyed the meal. His warmth and humility added to the experience, as did the kind and helpful waitress who explained parts of the menu.

Chef serving us Lebanon coffee
Chef serving us Lebanon coffee – Very nice man. The Lebanon coffee was delish!!
Arabic Cardamon Coffee
Arabic Cardamon Coffee – It was more like tea than coffee. Very interesting experience.

At 20,600 yen for two, the meal was on the pricier side, but for the quality, care, and flavor we experienced, it felt rather fair. AL AIN isn’t just a place to eat exotic food—it’s a place to appreciate fine food. We would like to return, especially when they have a new menu.
